We are looking for a senior Linux Administrator to work on site for the EU commission in Brussels.

The Following tasks will be required:

Design solutions for the secure deployment of operating systems to computers both on premise and via the cloud with a particular focus on IT infrastructure supporting audio-visual solutions (streaming in particular)
Design solutions for quickly and securely patching systems both on premise and via the cloud
Configuration monitoring
Capacity planning
Contingency planning
Security administration and monitoring
IT Project management for Commission-wide infrastructure and audio-visual projects
Collaboration with other departments of the Commission

Must Haves:

10+ years total experience
Good knowledge of programming/scripting languages : Python and Bash
Excellent knowledge of Linux (RedHat) operating system
Experience with audio-visual applications related to streaming, audio logging, room operation and automation, or digital signage.
Knowledge of audio-visual equipment
Knowledge of web/videoconference tools and equipment - General
Experience with networking topology for the transport of audio-visual content over IP networks, e.g. WOWZA, Dante, multi-casting, CDN etc..
Experience with audio-visual software and protocols, e.g. Wowza
Experience with storage and virtualization solutions
Knowledge of Audio and Video-encoding formats for streaming solutions: ffmpeg, HLS/RTMP/RTSP/SRT protocols
Knowledge of Cloud services (O365, Azure, AWS) more specifically services related to systems management
Excellent English B2 +
EU National

General knowledge and skills:

Client operating systems, Linux
On premise Microsoft server technologies
Directory, Authentication and federation protocols
PKI and Encryption solutions
Due to the particular nature of a large international organization such as the European
Commission, candidates should also have the following non-technical skills:
Capability of integration in an international/multicultural environment, rapid self-starting
capability and experience in working in team;
Excellent Team Player
Ability to understand, speak, read and write in English and/or French, being fluent in one
of those languages and having working knowledge of the other;
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, to help develop creative and practical
solutions
Experience in managing ICT related Projects
Ability to work in a proactive and independent manner, with a focus on priorities,
communication and decision-making capacities
Good organization, coordination and planning skills – with a high degree of drive and
desire to empower ICT change and evolution
Excellent communication skills, adaptable to audiences ranging from senior management
to technology specialists

400eur/day - Gross with the possibility of increasing to 450 for very senior and advanced candidates TBC
Annual contract with 220 man days per year average.
30 days payment terms on this contract.
